Nielsen bragging about sample size

The Nielsen Company says the sample sizes for its “sticker diary” radio ratings service in 51 markets averaged 39% above target for 12+. And, it claims, “Sample sizes were particularly high among 18-24 and 25-34 year olds.”

“All 51 markets were above the targeted goal set for each sample. Even before the overdelivery on sample size, Nielsen’s radio samples were projected to be twice as large as those previously available in the 51 markets covered by the service,” Nielsen said, without mentioning the name “Arbitron” as the provider of the competing service. “These higher samples will enable more granular and reliable radio ratings,” Nielsen declared.

Here’s a market-by-market look at the “sticker diary” sample stats.
