Nielsen Gives Digital Audio Ratings More Time

Nielsen1Before the NAB Show, Nielsen announced the company would roll out its Digital Audio Ratings, with the promise of over-the-air and e-measurement in one report.

Since that time, the audience measurement research firm says it has heard from clients who would like more time to review and get comfortable with the data.

That’s why Nielsen is extending the pre-currency preview period by two months to include the April and May survey periods, a spokesman confirms to RBR+TVBR.

The company released a statement to us that reads: “We anticipate Nielsen Digital Audio Ratings will go live in TAPSCAN with the June survey period.”

That data would be available in mid-July. “Clients who are already receiving pre-currency preview data will continue to receive those reports, allowing them to analyze their own performance but not in comparison to other stations.”

The pre-currency period is a first step, with Nielsen collecting ratings on the streams of 2,500 AM/FM stations in PPM markets.
