Glitches associated with the DTV transition appeared to cause ABC to lose viewers for its “World News” and primetime programming on Friday, so Nielsen redid the numbers. That didn’t change the weekly rankings, since the Alphabet Net won the primetime crown for the 18-49 demo, but did find a lot more viewers for “World News.”
A Nielsen spokesman acknowledged to RBR/TVBR that there had been a problem with the Friday numbers and that the company had rerun its numbers for “World News” and primetime for ABC on Friday.
ABC researchers caught the error when “World News” came up with only 4.1 million viewers on Friday. The reissued numbers put the audience at 6.3 million.
