Nielsen sells B2B travel brands


Northstar Travel Media announced Monday (3/1) that it has acquired Nielsen Business Media’s Travel Group Brands, which include the business publications Successful Meetings, Business Travel News, Meeting News and Incentive, plus MiMegasite, which is a portal for hosting online meetings. Terms were not disclosed.

“The addition of the Nielsen brands greatly enhances our competitive leadership positions in the travel and meetings industries, and extends our reach into important complementary segments of corporate travel and the motivation and incentive markets,” said Thomas Kemp, Northstar’s Chairman and CEO.

Northstar already ownes a number of travel titles, including Travel Weekly, TravelAge West and Meetings and Conventions, plus directories and online information sites.

Nielsen sold its media publications last year. RBR-TVBR reported last week that the price of that transaction was $84 million.
