As we mentioned back in February, Nielsen has shut down its commercial tracking service SpotScan. Nielsen spokesperson Karen Gyimesi tells RBR-TVBR it was officially shuttered 4-2: “SpotScan is just a small piece of our music business. To be clear, Nielsen is still producing our full radio and music tracking services which shows the most listened to songs on the Radio (Nielsen BDS) and the most downloaded and sold songs/albums (Nielsen SoundScan). SpotScan reported plays of radio ads and spend by advertisers.
