No surprise, 'American idol' winner Thursday

Last night, AMERICAN IDOL and BONES led the network to win the night among Adults 18-49, Total Viewers, Adults 18-34, Adults 25-54 and Teens and outperformed the next highest rated net for the night by +78% in Adults 18-49 (4.8 vs. CBS’ 2.7) and +42% in Total Viewers (16.3 vs. CBS’ 11.5 Mil.).


FOX matches the longest in-season Thursday winning streak in over 11 years among both Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers (17 consecutive weeks, since NBC at the start of the 99/00 season).

AMERICAN IDOL: delivered 6.2/19, down one-tenth versus last week’s results show (we expect this to go up a few tenths in the finals this afternoon)   
 
AMERICAN IDOL was the highest rated program of the night in Adults 18-49, Total Viewers, Adults 25-54 and Teens and outperformed the next highest rated program by +57% in Total Viewers (21.6 vs. 13.8 for CBS’ The Mentalist).

Last night’s AMERICAN IDOL Results show retained 98% of last Thursday’s Results show in Adults 18-49 (6.2 vs. 6.3) and up +1% in Total Viewers (21.6 vs. 21.3 Mil). 

AMERICAN IDOL retained 94% of the comparable telecast last year in Adults 18-49 (6.2 vs. 6.6 on 5/12/10, Top 4 Results) and grew +10% in Total Viewers (21.6 vs. 19.6 Mil.)

In the 8p hour AMERICAN IDOL outperformed the next highest rated net by +121% in Adults 18-49 (6.2 vs. 2.8 for CBS) and +135% in Total Viewers (21.6 vs. 9.2 for CBS).  AMERICAN IDOL also outperformed the combined 4-net competition in the 8p hour in Total Viewers by +6% (21.6 vs. 20.4 Mil.)

So far this season with Comparable Most Current ratings AMERICAN IDOL retains 94% of last year’s same telecasts in A18-49 (8.3/23 vs. 8.8/23, through the Top 4 Results, 5/12/10) and is up +3% in Total Viewers (24.8 vs. 24.1 Mil.)
                          
BONES:  3.3/9, up +3% versus last week’s show.
At 9pm, BONES posted a 3.3/9, up +3% from last week (3.2/9) in Adults 18-49.  BONES was the second highest-rated program of the night in Adults 18-49 and Teens behind only AMERICAN IDOL. 

BONES won the 9p hour among Adults 18-49, outperforming Grey’s Anatomy, the CSI season finale and The Office.  In fact, this is the first time BONES has ever topped an original Grey’s Anatomy in Adults 18-49. BONES also posted its second consecutive victory over Grey’s Anatomy in Total Viewers.
