The traffic in noncommercial FM CPs continues unabated. One of the latest to be filed is for KPEF-FM CP in White Castle LA. The buyer is Providence Educational Foundation. It will be the third station and second requiring construction work for Providence, headed by Clay Corvin.
The growing group will pay $11K cash to Grace Educational Group Inc. T.C. French Jr. signed off on the deal for the seller.
KPEF, which must be built by 3/4/12, is earmarked for 90.7 MHz on the dial, where its Class C2 signal will boast 33.5 kW of power at 417’ HAAT. The signal covers territory to the south of Baton Rouge.
The other CP in the PEF portfolio is WPEF, earmarked to Kentwood LA as a Class A on 91.5 MHz with 6 kW @ 292’. Its contour will serve unrated territory to the northeast of Baton Rouge. Its transmitter is actually located across the state line in Mississippi, just south of McComb.
By far the crown jewel in the portfolio is WBSN-FM, a full-fledged member of the New Orleans broadcast community. It is actually licensed to that city, and serves if from 89.1 MHz with a Class C3 signal featuring 11 kW @ 440’.
