The Twin Cities’ newest radio station, KHTC FM, 96.3 NOW, launched 1/6 with more hits, increased signal power and more online and mobile access than before. The Top 40/Rhythmic KTTB (B96) flipped to Top 40/Mainstream. Currently, it is running without on-air talent.

The station features today’s Top 40 music from artists such as Beyoncé, the Black Eyed Peas, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, Britney Spears, Kanye West and Lady Gaga, among others. The new 96.3 NOW can be heard on-air, online at www.963now.com and via a variety of mobile devices, including the iPhone.

According to Steve Woodbury, president and CEO for Northern Lights Broadcasting and 27-year veteran of Twin Cities radio, the new format direction is in line with radio trends: “We are shifting to a more mainstream pop/hip-hop mix of music, which reflects both what listeners across the U.S. are responding to, as well as the music that’s being produced today.”

“It’s our hope that our current listeners will find more music to like than ever before,” said Sam Elliot, Northern Lights VP/Operations. “Plus, we hope to attract more listeners with our increased broadcast reach and music offering.” Elliot noted that the station has increased signal strength throughout the entire metro area, with a special focus on reaching eastern St. Paul.
