One cancelled, one not scheduled

Yesterday’s scheduled Subcommittee on Communications, Technology, and the Internet hearing, “Oversight of the Federal Communications Commission” was scrubbed. But more interesting may be a hearing that has not been scheduled.

Committee staff cited scheduling conflicts as the reason for the postponement of this and another hearing on the agenda for another Energy and Commerce subcommittee, where matters have tended to be in flux due to the strong recent focus on health care matters. The FCC oversight hearing has not yet been rescheduled.

The other non-development concerns the Senate Judiciary Committee. Earlier, its Chairman, Patrick Leahy, had indicated his desire to take on the Performance Rights Act prior to August recess. The committee just posted announcements for three hearings next week, and PRA was not among the topics. There is still time to add it on, of course, but it appears that nothing will take place there until September at the earliest.

Here’s one more item. The Senate Commerce Committee will consider several more nominees for various government posts next week, among them Patricia D. Cahill, to be a Member of the Board of Directors of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. That session is scheduled for Wednesday, 7/29/09 at 2:30 Eastern.
