Online interview video breaks records for


Telemundo announced that “Cara a Cara” (Face to Face), its original segment produced exclusively for digital platforms, has garnered close to 500,000 views since its debut on June 1, breaking all previous records for video streaming at, according to Omniture. The unique interview is linked to one of Telemundo’s most popular novelas.

The one-on-one interview features primetime novela “La Reina del Sur” (Queen of the South) cross-over star, Kate del Castillo (“Weeds,” “Under the Same Moon,” “Julia,” “Trade”), interviewing her own character Teresa Mendoza in a seamless two-way conversation exclusively produced  for the “viewsers.”’s multiplatform storytelling team regularly collaborates with the Telemundo Studios writing staff, led by Roberto Stopello, to extract ideas from primetime telenovelas and transform them into original content for the web. Viewers were drawn to “La Reina del Sur” because of Kate del Castillo, and “Cara a Cara” gave fans the best of both worlds – Kate del Castillo and Kate del Castillo portraying the powerful and awe-inspiring Teresa Mendoza.

Over the course of its on-air run, “La Reina del Sur” was Telemundo’s most successful telenovela in the network’s history, reaching 16.6 million total viewers (persons 2+), according to Nielsen Media Research. The telenovela’s May 30 finale was the highest rated program in the network’s 19-year ratings history, averaging nearly 4.2 million total viewers (persons 2+) and over 2.8 million adults 18-49. Due to the unprecedented success of the series, Telemundo launched its first-ever Emmy campaign for “La Reina Del Sur” and its star Kate del Castillo.
