Oprah making first visit to Dr. Phil show

Hard to believe, since the “Dr. Phil” show grew out of Phil McGraw’s appearances on “Oprah” and Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions created the “Dr. Phil” show in 2002, but Oprah Winfrey has never appeared on the show. That changes Monday, February 11th, as Winfrey will be one of the featured guests as “Dr. Phil” celebrates its 1,000 episode.

The two daytime stars reminisce about their first meeting ten years ago during the infamous 1998 lawsuit brought against her in Amarillo, TX, by the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association for what they claimed were derogatory comments made on her show about the safety of American beef. During the trial, Oprah was recommended to Dr. Phil, who, at the time, was a litigation consultant at his own firm. Winfrey not only won the court case, but, as they say, the rest is history. Dr. Phil made numerous appearances on Winfrey’s show from 1998 to 2002 before his own show was launched in national syndication. Jay Leno will also appear on Monday’s Dr. Phil, “crashing” the party to present a special prize to a very deserving member of the audience.
