Oprah Winfrey books Sarah Palin

If you want to sell a book, there’s no better place than on “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” So, that will be the first stop for former Alaska Governor and 2008 GOP Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin as she begins the tour to promote her first book.

“Going Rogue: An American Life” is due to hit bookstores November 17th. Palin is due to hit Oprah’s couch November 16th.

Winfrey, a vocal supporter of Barack Obama’s presidential campaign, drew fire from some on the right last year when it was alleged that she had refused to allow Palin to appear on her show. The talk host denied any such thing. “At the beginning of this presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over,” Winfrey said in a September 2008 statement.

Not only is Palin making it possible for Winfrey to make good on that “fantastic interview,” but the appearance is being billed as the official first stop on Palin’s book tour. She has been making some political speeches since the campaign ended, but has largely avoided any TV appearances other than brief news coverage of those political appearances.

RBR-TVBR observation: Political differences are easily overlooked when it comes to TV ratings and selling books.
