Erika Roman, morning host for Cox Radio’s WPYO-FM “Power 95.3” Orlando was killed Friday in a crash on the Florida Turnpike. She was 31.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Roman swerved to avoid a lounge chair that fell from a boat being towed on the highway. Her car went out of control, flipped and landed in a drainage ditch. A Florida State Trooper and other passers by jumped into the water to knock out the windows and free Roman from her seatbelt. The trooper then tried cardiopulmonary resuscitation for 20 minutes, but was unable to revive Roman.

WPYO’s website is inviting listeners to post remembrances of the popular radio personality.

Police are still seeking the driver of the car which had been pulling the boat.
