John OrlandoJohn Orlando is no stranger to the portion of America located inside the Beltway – he’s in the midst of his second stint there for CBS, and has also worked for NAB and on Capitol Hill itself. Now his position with CBS has been elevated.

Orlando has been promoted from the position of SVP Washington to EVP, Government Affairs, taking over the role filled by the retiring Martin D. Franks. CEO President/CEO Les Moonves made the announcement.

CBS has numerous business interests that are subject to regulation by the FCC and interests in numerous topics that come up on Capitol Hill, making a strong presence in Washington an absolute necessity.

Orlando will lead CBS’s Washington activities, and will also be in charge of similar issues involving state and local governments.
Orlando was in charge of government relations for the NAB for five years before rejoining CBS in 2006.

“John is one of the most respected and skilled lobbyist working in the media industry so I am thrilled to have him at the helm of our D.C. operation,” said Moonves.  “He has been an integral part of our Washington office for years, and his guidance and counsel have been critical in navigating our efforts with the Administration, government agencies, Congress and beyond. At a time when the media landscape is in constant change, having someone as knowledgeable as John is about our company and the industry is invaluable.”
