Racial Discrimination Lawsuit Filed Over Indy Retrans Impasse

On January 31, two Indianapolis TV stations fell dark on DirecTV, as a retrans consent deal agreed to by the stations' prior ownership lapsed. Six months later, a new deal remains absent. Now, the stations' owner has taken DirecTV parent AT&T to court. He's says it is now a matter of racial discrimination. AT&T responded with a statement to RBR+TVBR.

In a closely watched vote, the House Judiciary Committee on Thursday morning passed the "Satellite Television Community Protection and Promotion Act of 2019." The vote comes a day after the House Energy & Commerce Committee unanimously passed the Television Viewer Protection Act. 

TV Bill Passes House Commerce With Bipartisan Support

Tuesday was set to be a wildly busy day for the House Energy & Commerce Committee. No less than 18 bills were on the docket for markup. The goal was a bit overambitious. When will CBS Corp.-owned TV stations return to DirecTV, DirecTV NOW or AT&T U-Verse?
