FCC Chairman Ajit Pai and NAB President/CEO Gordon Smith will participate in a keynote conversation on Wednesday (5/13) as part of the all-digital replacement for the 2020 NAB Show, which was originally planned for late April in Las Vegas but was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The conversation is the centerpiece of a NAB Show Express welcome event. Communications policy issues before the FCC, including spectrum policy and media ownership, will be at the heart of the conversation.

The opening session will be streamed on nabshowexpress.com at Noon ET/9am PT.

It will be accessible on demand following its conclusion.

The welcome event will also feature Smith’s “State of the Broadcast Industry” address and the presentation of the NAB Distinguished Service Award to Jim Henson, the artist, innovator, and visionary creator of The Muppets.

The Crystal Radio Awards, Digital Leadership Award and Engineering Achievement Awards will also be presented.

Coloff Media’s KCVM-FM in Cedar Falls, Iowa will receive the NAB Crystal Heritage Award.

NAB Show Express will be held May 13 and 14.
