Pandora has added to the flurry of year-end licensing deals.
The latest such agreement is with Atlas Music Publishing.
As music consumption moves online, Atlas CEO Richard Stumpf says it’s vital to have direct relationships with key companies. The deal with Pandora is about having an “integrated creative relationship” along with better royalties, a clearer view of transactions and “the march towards ultimate parity” in the online space he adds.
Pandora is pursuing direct music royalty licensing agreements with publishers to gain control over its royalty rates and add flexibility to its product offerings over time.
The public performance royalties Pandora pays to rights holders of master recordings are not affected by this agreement.
