Just in time for holiday gift giving, Pandora Media announced that Pandora One gift cards are being sold at all 1,762 Target stores nationwide and on Target.com. A $36 card is redeemable for a one-year subscription to Pandora’s commercial-free premium streaming service.
“Target is an ideal partner for our first major retail launch because of their national reach. With the Pandora One gift card available exclusively at Target, this holiday season, gift-givers have yet another easy way to share the joy of personalized radio with friends and family,” said Tim Westergren, Pandora founder and Chief Strategy Officer.
Pandora is pitching the gift cards as “a thoughtful, affordable gift or stocking stuffer for family members, friends, co-workers and anyone who would enjoy having a truly personalized radio experience.”
RBR-TVBR observation: This is a good cash flow move for Pandora, but it sounds like a good way to tick off people who aren’t already Pandora fans. “What am I supposed to do with this?” is the likely greeting as they look inside their stocking. By the way, we searched Target.com and couldn’t find the gift cards for sale.
