‘Parenthood’ takes 10pm win Tuesday for NBC

Parenthood helped with the ‘The Biggest Loser’ to show respect on Tuesday night. Parenthood most likely will get a renewal notice.


From 8-10 p.m., “The Biggest Loser: Couples” (3.0/8 in 18-49, 8.0 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in the time period in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, adults 18-34 (tie) and all key adult-female demos behind only Fox’s two-hour “American Idol.”  “Biggest Loser” is up week-to-week by 7 percent in 18-49 (3.0 vs. 2.8) and 9 percent in total viewers (8.0 million vs. 7.3 million).  “Biggest Loser” attracted its biggest overall audience in three weeks.  

From its first half-hour to its fourth, “Biggest Loser” increased its 18-49 rating by 36 percent (to a 3.6 from a 2.5) and its overall viewership by 25 percent or 1.8 million persons (8.9 million vs. 7.1 million).

At 10 p.m., “Parenthood” (2.7/8 in adults 18-49, 7.1 million viewers overall) dominated the time period in 18-49 and other key demos, delivering week-to-week gains of 17 percent in 18-49 (2.7 vs. 2.3) and 21 percent or more than 1.2 million persons in total viewers (7.1 million vs. 5.8 million) against ABC’s “V” recap and CBS’s “Good Wife” encore.  “Parenthood” won the hour in 18-49 by a margin of 42 percent (2.7 vs. 1.9 for ABC’s second-place “V” recap).  In the time period, “Parenthood” is #1 or tied for #1 among the major networks in every key demographic.

These are the top “Parenthood” results in three weeks in 18-49 and total viewers.
In the 10:30 lead-in to local news, “Parenthood” delivered a 48 percent margin of victory in the key news demo of adults 25-54 (3.1 vs. 2.1 for CBS’s second-place “Good Wife” encore).  “Parenthood” won the 10:30 half-hour in every key demographic.
