KNBC-TV (NBC) Los Angeles reports the death of veteran traffic reporter Paul Johnson. He lost his battle with a brain tumor Tuesday at age 75.

Johnson had been part of the NBC4 on-air team since August 1988, serving at various times as both a weather and traffic reporter. He had long been the morning traffic reporter for “NBC4 Today in LA,” but had been off the air since undergoing brain surgery in January.

Johnson had worked for numerous LA-area radio stations earlier in his career and was Program Director of WJR-FM Detroit before joining Metro Traffic in 1982. The obituary posted by KNBC noted that he was also an actor, appearing in the movie “Paint Your Wagon” and in local productions and TV commercials.
