NBCUniversal is jumping into the stream with a free premium ad-supported service. Comcast investors were treated to a presentation of Peacock; a service that launches nationally July 15.

Peacock will be offered across web, mobile and connected-TV devices in a tiered environment. Peacock Free is an ad-supported option that provides everyone with more than 7,500 hours of programming. Peacock Premium will be bundled at no additional cost to Comcast and Cox subscribers but will still carry ads.

Comcast and Cox customers will be able to upgrade to ad-free Premium for $5.00 a month and any customer can purchase the ad-free service for $9.99 a month.

“This is a very exciting time for our company, as we chart the future of entertainment,” said Steve Burke, Chairman of NBCUniversal. “We have one of the most enviable collections of media brands and the strongest ad sales track record in the business. Capitalizing on these key strengths, we are taking a unique approach to streaming that brings value to customers, advertisers and shareholders.”

Xfinity X1 and Flex customers will have early bird access to Peacock Premium starting April 15. Beginning July 15, Peacock Free and Peacock Premium will be available nationally on popular web, mobile and connected-TV devices.
