Performance fee model, anyone?


I wonder if the NAB or any individual broadcasters have a suggested "model" for recapturing any new performance royalty expenses if radio loses its exemption?  In other words, what should we charge the record companies and artists for playing their music if we no longer have a mutually beneficial relationship…no more free promotional help…etc.?  Obviously, some members of Congress just expect us to increase our ad rates, punishing our advertisers, so that artists get compensated even though they get free promotional air play.  I have read very little from radio groups in the major markets, who stand to be the most severely impacted.
