Peter Chernin joins Pandora's board of directors

In a big “get” for the Internet-based radio service, Pandora has added former News Corporation COO Peter Chernin to its board of directors. Also joining is Barry McCarthy, former CFO of Netflix.

“We are very fortunate to have two such outstanding additions to Pandora,” said Tim Westergren, founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Pandora. “Peter brings an extraordinary track record of leadership at some of the world’s most successful global media companies. His diverse talent and deep experience will be invaluable as we seek to accelerate our growth. Additionally, Barry’s decade-plus tenure as chief financial officer at a truly great consumer services company will be a tremendous resource for us. As longtime admirers of Netflix, we are delighted to have him on our team.”

Peter Chernin is currently heading his own companies, The Chernin Group and Chernin Entertainment. The Chernin Group manages, operates and invests in businesses in the media, entertainment and technology sectors. Chernin Entertainment produces feature films and television programs. He left News Corporation in 2009 after a long run as Rupert Murdoch’s right hand man.

Barry McCarthy served as CFO of Netflix for nearly 12 years before stepping down in December of last year.
