Connoisseur Media COO Peter Kosann has launched Compass Media Networks. The former Westwood One CEO said the new syndication company launches with “Download HD,” a radio imaging and production library offering over 2 million pieces of written and audio content; and “The Free Beer & Hot Wings Show” (mornings) out of WGRD-FM Grand Rapids, MI. He’s already signed stations from eight groups. Kosann also continues at Connoisseur in the same role.
Kosann tells RBR that while times are not the best to launch a new business, he is still joining the fray: “Yes, this is an extremely challenging moment in time for our industry. This said, radio remains a tremendous business and great programming is essential to the industry’s turnaround. Compass Media Networks is here to identify and champion great content. We will do this in a spirit of cooperation with our broadcast partners with the goal of super serving listeners and advertisers."
Within the past 30 days, Compass has secured new affiliation agreements deals with Regent, Big League Broadcasting, Connoisseur, Great Eastern Radio, Genesis Communications. Mt. Wilson Broadcasting and Rose City Radio. Free Beer & Hot Wings currently has 17 affiliates.
