Peter Storer dead at 81

Former TV and cable system owner Peter Storer died Sunday, November 8th, at his home in Saratoga, WY. A family announcement said he had fought a lengthy battley with cardiovascular and pulmonary disease. He was 81.


Following in the footsteps of his father, George Storer, Peter grew up in the television business and worked his way up through the ranks at Storer Broadcasting, with a brief departure to work for CBS Radio. He opened the TV rep firm Storer TV Sales and after assuming the role of CEO of Storer Broadcasting upon his father’s death, changed the name to Storer Communications and began expanding from television stations into the emerging cable industry. He grew Storer Communications into the 4th largest MSO in the nation before it was acquired in 1986 by KKR. The seven TV stations had been sold a few years earlier.

Funeral services will be Saturday, November 14th, in Saratoga, WY.
