Petry Media loses Journal, LIN Media?

1

LIN MediaLike TV NewsCheck, which broke the story, RBR-TVBR didn’t receive any calls back from Petry CEO Doug Fierro confirming the news. Not long after TV NewsCheck reported the 80+-year old television ad rep form is losing Journal Broadcast to Katz Television as of 12/2, LIN Media is reportedly taking its rep business elsewhere, too. LIN operates 43 stations in 23 markets and has been a Petry client since 1971.

Reports of LIN Media’s loss follows the news that another longtime Petry client, Journal Broadcast Group, had jumped to Katz Television’s Eagle Television Sales. This, according to a memo from Katz Television CEO Leo MacCourtney to  staff obtained by TV NewsCheck: “Journal Broadcast Group is one of America’s finest-run broadcast companies, with a focus on being the dominant station in each of their markets, as well as a real focus on news and community. In addition, Journal has a big commitment to sports, with offerings including the 620 WTMJ Packers Radio Network in Wisconsin.”

If the news is true, it may be the last straw for Petry, as it has been losing major clients since 2008.
