Here’s your fair warning as you get set to pay your FY 2008 regulatory fees. According to Mitchell Lazarus at Fletcher Heald & Hildreth, there are at least two websites out there mimicking the FCC’s, hoping to net unwary FCC licensees, and their confidential information. The foolproof method to avoid those who prey in the murky depths of the internet is to always physically type in www.fcc.gov into your browser, rather than following a link provided by a third party or by attempting to “google up” the FCC. The genuine FCC website has a prominently displayed click-in option called “FY 2008 REGULATORY FEES.” These simple precautions should keep your confidential information safe.
