Potosi AM station should come with luggage

KYRO Group LLC is filing to acquire a Potosi MO AM station with call letters reflected in the licensee name – but if the FCC goes along with the plan, the station will be pulling up stakes and heading about 70 miles north to the Troy MO area.

KYRO-AM is coming from The RAFFT Corporation, headed by Jerome Friemel. It carries a price tag of $230K, with $40K of that amount tied to the successful acquisition and execution of the CP to move.

KYRO-AM Group is headed by Managing Partner James D. Beck and his associates Jason Mensinger and Michael D. Noonan.

Troy is about 70 north of Potosi; Potosi is about 50 miles SSW of St. Louis, and Troy is about 40 miles NW of St. Louis. It’ll be a new service area for the station, but with 1 kw-D and 80 w-N coming off its 1280 kHz dial position, it is not a threat to put up Arbitron numbers of any significance in the metropolitan area from either location.
