Not long after losing DJ Laz to SBS’s KXOL-FM LA, Beasley’s Power 96 WPOW-FM Miami launched a new Morning Show on Tuesday, 5/29 that features Afrika, Big Lip and JP.  Listeners will be entertained each weekday morning from 5:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. with popular bits such as ‘Busted’ every hour, ‘Carmen’s Prank Calls’ and ‘What’s Poppin!’ as well as controversial segments like ‘Afrika’s Girl Talk’ at 7:35 a.m. and ‘Black, White, Hispanic or Other.’ Additionally, Power 96 is asking listeners to send in their suggestions for the perfect new Morning Show name; log onto www.power96.com to submit name suggestions.

Afrika and Big Lip are already part of the Morning Show team and are welcoming JP to morning drive from nights where, for the past six years, he hosted Power 96’s number-one rated nighttime show.  A Miami native, JP was raised on South Beach and lives and breathes the Miami lifestyle.  “I grew up in South Florida listening to Power 96,” says JP, “to have this amazing opportunity to host mornings on Power 96 is both a dream and an honor.”

Co-host Afrika says, “Since moving here over a year ago, I fell in love with Miami, its culture and Power 96.  I’m so excited to be a part of this family!”  Big Lip, who joined the station last fall, chimes in, “Get ready, this new morning show team is going to make some noise and take over the city!”

Program Director Jill Strada explains, “After searching far and wide for the next generation of the Power 96 Morning Show, I found the perfect team right here in our building!  The synergy and talent of this trio is infectious.  Now we just need to find the perfect Morning Show name!”
