Price, details revealed in Miami

The Washington Post has a deal in the works that will give it two top four network affiliates in the Miami market, a rare combination made possible by GE’s NBC/Telemundo. However, we now know that it will not have two of the top four-rated stations in the market. Oh, and we also know the price. Post-Newsweek is getting NBC affiliate and O&O WTVJ-TV for $205M cash. It’ll combine with its own WPMG-TV, and ABC outlet. Usually it is difficult to pull off a duopoly with two of the top four networks, since the FCC frowns on combining two of the top four stations in a market. In the case of bilingual Miami, however, the principals in this deal were able to point out that WTVJ is only the sixth most watched station.
