Quarter up double digits for Allbritton

Rather than wait until it has all of the information for its quarterly 10-Q filing with the SEC (and so it can go ahead with the sale of some new bonds), Allbritton Communications has issued preliminary results for its fiscal Q2 (January-March). The numbers are good.

Privately owned Allbritton, which has public bonds, says net revenues for the quarter rose 14% to $45 million. Excluding political advertising, local and national revenues were up about 15% to $37 million.

Of course, much attention is being paid to the automotive advertising sector, which dropped so dramatically in 2009. Auto was up 54% in the quarter for Allbritton. The company said auto accounted for approximately 17% of its revenue in the quarter. By our calculation, that was about $7.7 million.
