Just seven days after announcing a deal to sell two Connecticut newspapers to Hearst Corporation (10/26/07 RBR #210), the transaction has closed and Tribune has 62.4 million bucks in its coffers. This time there was no court battle with the UAW local, which ultimately scuttled a previous deal to sell the Stamford Advocate and Greenwich Time to Gannett. Hearst agreed to assume the union contract.
