Quincy Newspapers Inc. reorganizes TV division

Ralph M. Oakley, President/CEO of Quincy Newspapers Inc. (QNI), announced a series of new appointments in the company’s executive ranks. They all become effective October 12, 2009.


Jerry Watson has been named Regional Vice President of QNI and will have oversight of the company’s six NBC affiliates.  He will remain as Vice President and General Manager of KTTC (NBC) in Rochester, MN and will be based there.  The company’s other NBC affiliates include WGEM/Quincy, IL; WREX/Rockford, IL; KWWL, Waterloo, IA; KTIV/ Sioux City, IA and WVVA/Bluefield, WV.

Watson also has responsibility for the company’s shared services agreement with KXLT (FOX) in Rochester.

Tom Allen has also been named Regional Vice President of QNI and will have oversight of the company’s ABC and FOX affiliates.  He will remain as Vice President and General Manager of WKOW (ABC) in Madison, WI and will be based there.  The company’s  other ABC affiliates include WXOW/WQOW/La Crosse/Eau Claire, WI; WAOW/WYOW/Wausau/Eagle River, WI.  The company’s FOX affiliate is WSJV serving South Bend/Elkhart, IN.

Chuck Roth has been named Director of Business Administration for QNI and will work in a variety of roles. For the past year, Roth has worked on special projects for the company. Prior to that, he was Vice President and General Manager of WXOW/WQOW.  He is based in Onalaska, WI.

In addition to the stations listed above, QNI has CW, RTV and This TV affiliations in several markets. It also owns and operates WGEM/AM/FM in Quincy, as well as the Quincy Herald-Whig in Quincy and the New Jersey Herald in Newton, NJ.
