“Quinn and Rose” leave mornings at WPGB

287

Jim Quinn and Rose TennentConservative talkers Jim Quinn and Rose Tennent (“The War Room with Quinn and Rose”) have ended their run at CCME’s Talker WPGB-FM Pittsburgh the end of last week. In a statement, a CCME spokesperson told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: “WPGB tried to reach new terms with Jim Quinn and Rose Tennent, but as that was unsuccessful, they will be moving on and we support and thank them for the contributions they have made to Clear Channel Media + Entertainment’s WPGB over the years.”

David Bloomquist, from CCME’s 50-kW WWVA-AM Wheeling, WV is now hosting mornings on WPGB from 6-10 a.m. A former sports and morning news anchor on West Virginia television, Bloomquist, known as “Bloomdaddy,” will stay on from WWVA, as well as WLTP-AM Parkersburg, WV.

However, affiliate, Robert Savage’s WYSL-A/FM Rochester NY wasn’t too happy about the Quinn & Rose move, and says it wasn’t given enough notice. From its website: (http://www.wysl1040.com/):

“It is with a heavy heart that WYSL advises Jim Quinn and Rose Tennent were abruptly fired by their flagship station, WPGB Pittsburgh, over the weekend of November 16/17. WYSL received e-mail notice of this termination literally ten minutes before their scheduled Monday morning broadcast. The result was a chaotic relay broadcast of a morning show from Clear Channel’s AM station in Wheeling, West Virginia. We’re sorry for the confused mishmash that resulted on our air. Although this situation is beyond our control, WYSL apologizes for the sudden cessation of this very popular morning show. Beginning with Tuesday, November 19, we will feature former US Education Secretary Bill Bennett’s program, “Morning In America,” from the Salem Radio Network, weekdays from 6 to 9am. Please join us in extending best wishes to our friends Jim and Rose and thanking them for a wonderful seven years of morning radio. Also please know that WYSL looks forward to hearing a return of Quinn and Rose to national radio as soon as legal and other circumstances permit. Thanks for the overwhelming response and for listening to WYSL – your reliably conservative radio voice.”

No word yet on where Quinn and Rose may be heading, but WYSL might be a good place to start.

  1. Loved listening to them in the mornings. I drive for a living and would listen to them all the time! Won’t be turning on 104.7 till Rush comes on! Bring Quinn and Rose back!!!

    • I was sad and upset to find out Quinn & Rose had been fired.I will now listen to Glenn Beck and Rush on the internet, I’m done with Clear Channel and won’t support them in any way.I’m also going to contact their sponsors and explain my concerns.I agree let’s start our own radio station.

  2. Commented yesterday re the abrupt separation of Q & R, saw it posted online, GONE TODAY. Have I been censored? There was absolutely nothing vulgar, profane, or inaccurate in what I had written… Just the facts! Where’s my BS Detector when I need it?
Was it because I wrote that Dave Bloomquist has zero personality and his program has even less content (Insensitivity! Insensitivity!)
    … OR …
Was it because I linked CCME’s Executive VP for Political Strategies, Nathan Daschle, former Exec. Director of the Democrat Govenors Assoc., to his father, Tom Daschle, former Democrat US Senator and Senate Majority Leader from SD until defeated by a Republican, John Thune, in 2004; that the senior Daschle became a DC lobbyist, was/is an Obama supporter and had been nominated by Obama to serve as the HHS Sectretary before withdrawing his name from consideration because of some income tax reporting & paying irregularities?
The junior Daschle was named to this post with CCME in June 2013, sooo, let’s count… it took only 5 months to dump Quinn & Rose. Well, isn’t that a “Co-Inky-Dink!”
    Just asking.
    RBT

    • Nathan Daschle works in marketing to secure PAC and candidate ads for Clear Channel, he has nothing to do with programming.

If you’d researched his actual role at the company and had an awareness of the radio business, you wouldn’t so easily buy into such theories.

  3. With Jerry Doyle and Q&R off WPGB, I have no reason to listen, so I don’t. Clearly the profit motive is not in play any longer when it comes to terrestrial radio. TPTB are quickly silencing all dissension.

  4. I can hardly believe it. Ominous at the last. I have been listening to them on podcast for years over in Europe, and I am sickened that they got the boot. Quinn is really one of the best in the business. Now it is Roger Hedgecock, Levin and Savage for me on podcasts (Rush doesn’t offer his for free, which diminishes him). Please, please come back!!

  5. WPGB dropping Quinn and Rose probably has very little to do with contract negotiations and everything to do about progressive politics. Follow the money. You will probably see a link between Clear Channel & the Left paying or threatening them not to renew their contract.

  6. 2nd Clear Channel I have stopped listening to in a year. It makes it hard listening to Rush now. WPGB in Pittsburgh just lost many listeners. Quinn has been my morning drive since 96.9.

  7. Thursday 11/14/13 was the last show I was able to download on itunes – does anyone know where I can find the Friday 11/15 show? I feel the Friday show should have been put on itunes in order to legally close their contract.

Would someone who listened to the 11/15 show give a summary of what was discussed and whether or not Jim or Rose said anything that was so outrageous or controversial as to cause their sudden termination?

Does anyone know approximately how much $$$ it would cost us to buy a radio station? I’m talking about a station we would all own; one where Q&R, Mark Levin, Bill Marr, Cunningham, Mancow, and other CONSERVATIVE talk show hosts, guests, and (yes) conservative political candidates and elected officials could broadcast the TRUTH every day? Educational programs from the Heritage Foundation and other organizations could also be broadcast. Townhall meetings on pending legislation could be presented. Upcoming events sponsored by the Tea Party et al could also be announced – not all of us have time to read all the mail we get, or spend hours a week on the computer trying to find this information.

At least 15 million conservative listeners at $100 each = 1.5 BILLION – I believe we can do this!!!

Feedback (pro and/or con) would be greatly appreciated.

    • Thank you Arlene! This is how all of us need to respond to this. How many times will we be force fed another vanilla talking head in the place of a strong, opinionated conservative voice. I will check out your link. Great Idea. We need to do more than talk about another “slice” to our values. Or we can continue to “Eat our peas”. If anyone has any other ideas, please don’t hesitate to post them on this site. I will be reading every day.

    • I listen 3 hours every day even before they were on this station.

THEY SAID NOTHING for them to have terminated them.

  8. First clear channel gets off xm then they fire Q&R what the heck is going on has the republican party started running clear channel its time to take back our country

  9. The removal of Quinn and Rose is just more proof that free speech in this country is a thing of the past. I guess that the truth has become a dangerous commodity at WPGB in Pittsburgh. I’ve already removed them from my car radio’s pre-sets for the morning drive to work.

    • Free speech doesn’t apply to privately owned broadcasting stations – you don’t have a 1st Amendment right to Quinn and Rose on a Clear Channel station anymore than liberals do to hear Randi Rhodes or Ed Schultz.

  10. I will no longer be listening to WPGB radio – the Quinn and Rose Show is why I began to listen then followed with others – Hannity. I am greatly disappointed that they will no longer be on and highly upset with the fact that there was no advance notice.

  11. I use to listen to the oldies on 3ws in the pgh area until some young punk
decided that he didn’t like this music and decided to change it. This is
clear channel. Now that we had a channel that advances the truth, as per
Quinn and Rose, Hannity, Limbaugh, etc, these young democratic, Obama (PAID)
supporters are again deciding what is good for us. Clear channel needs to wake up…the American people will be heard and will over come. We are tired
of the media lying to us and telling us what we will do! Clear channel needs
have a little cleaning before it goes down the tubes!!!! Good Luck.

  12. What kind of BS is this? I am a Vietnam veteran that has served this country since 1969. I am now 65 years old, and a veterans that deserves
better treatment that you are showing! I was spit at after servicing my
time in Vietnam. Thanks to Jane Fonda and the likes. The Obama administration has made it perfectly clear that the he thinks nothing about our devotion to our country by shutting down our our Government and closing down our monuments. What a pitiful site. This is your moderation,
What do you have to say now…???

  13. I have contacted several of the sponsors on WPGB and told them I will no longer do business with them because of this.

    • I did the same thing and I called all my friends. Bye, bye sponsors. I don’t turn on WPGB AT ALL anymore. I will NOT support anything that supports Clear Channel and I’m actively searching for anyone who does to inform them of their poor managing. Tired of “paid” lefties taking away our choices.

Waiting for your return, Quinn and Rose. I’m patient.

  14. Quinn should be a college professor, he is the most knowledgable conservative commentator there is. he has a way of explaining events past and present that gives a clear understanding. Rose is great. Please bring them back. We need the truth they convey.

  15. Here’s an alternate plan. Instead of a radio station, what about a national CB organization. Honestly, I don’t know diddly-squat about CBs, but I know Quinn has a CB system; I know you can communicate with people all over the world; I think it’s easier to learn how to use a CB system than the public “social” network sites online; and I think it’s impossible for the government to shut down a CB network like they can with radio and computers.

All you truckers out there (God bless you all) – please educate me on this idea.

  16. I am deeply angry and frustrated. They way Quinn & Rose were fired is repugnant! Quinn & Rose were a breath of fresh air in the morning, I loved their show as well as their politics. I hope their vision takes them beyond Fox News as it definitely not conservative just slightly less liberal than the other networks.

What I would love to see is a genuine true conservative media organization be it Television or Radio that does shows not with personalities like at fox news but conservative intellects from conservative think tanks such as The Heritage Foundation, Cato Institute, Project for the New American Century Renew America, so on and so forth. Combine that with true core conservative journalists not personalities, and true radio on air conservatives, these shows would be commercial free run approximately 90 minutes long so points can be made and plans be clearly outlined with graphs and charts and once in a while a guest could come on, if a politician he or she has to be a true conservative NOT a RINO.

This would be a network that does not offer fair and balanced but simply a conservative cause and viewpoint without exception or apology. Also this network would have a conservative Christian cause as well and promote a Christian cause also without exception or apology. All programs would run 90 minutes and perhaps repeated during the night. I believe Quinn and Rose you be an excellent fit for a format such as that. Anyway I offer that as a thought and general outline of would or could be an excellent alternative to what exists now. People with moral courage that will not be gutless cowards and say things that insult human intelligence such as “If Obama says he was born in the United States I take him at his word” We all know that is bovine scat. A media organization that shows and documents proof, offer conservative plans that work and uses the format to promote them, in much the same way Fox News uses it’s network to promote the books that its on air personalities and contributors write…Anyway its just a thought. May God Bless Quinn and Rose, praying they will find a broadcast outlet soon!

  17. Arlene,
Your idea about CB is a good one but with one small change: Jim is actually a ham radio operator. I have heard him talk about re-joining the hobby after a number of years away. I have a cheap shortwave radio which I occaisionally used to use to listen to a group of (I think) ex-military hams on about 3.995 MC on saturday mornings. One time I heard a very familiar voice; yes it was Jim. He talked to the others explaining that he had just gotten back into the hobby and that he did a radio show from Pitt. Pa. His call letters are: W3VEX (W3 Very Expensive EX-wife). As it happens I have a cassette recorder built in to my radio so as soon as I heard that voice I grabbed a tape and recorded Jim for about the next 5 minutes. I made an MP3 from the tape and still have it. It may now be a collector’s item. Not only that he is in Pittsburgh and I live in New Jersey near Philadelphia which means good range. At any rate let’s call for Jim to start a Radio Free America movement on shortwave and the internet too.

    • Thanks for your feedback Jeff. I don’t know anything about ham radio either, but I am seriously looking into it right after Thanksgiving. Maybe we can build a conservative network this way also. We need a multi-prong attack, not just one public movement that is easily attacked by our enemies. There is strength in numbers; we have the numbers – we just have to get them organized. This, at least, is my belief. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  18. Quinn and Rose were very much part of my mornings. I used to listen all the time. The only thing I have left in my radio day is to turn it off. I don’t have time to listen to anything else on 104.7 Rush and such is during my work hours. I pretty much have no more reason to tune in. Yes, I agree to all the others. Every day goes by I keep finding myself thinking of turning them on and realize they are gone. I turn on the Christian music station instead, or 101.5 for preaching. I miss them so much! As far as people believing in plots of liberal takeovers and such … I don’t know about that. I just know that I have no reason to turn on that station any more. Bloom daddy is dry boring and I tried real hard to give him a chance. It was like grating your fingernails on a chalkboard. I had to turn him off.

  19. IM HAVING WITHDRAWAL ! SOMETHING HAD DO BE DONE. WELL IM REMOVING MY 104.7 PRESET AND MY I-HEART. STUPID MOVE ….
    Reply

  20. Am really disappointed to hear this news – both Quinn and Rose are true patriots who deserve much better than this. While I understand their message is not universally accepted by all listeners, they need to be heard. In my view, Quinn and Rose stand tall amoung those who are our only great hope for continued growth in this grande American miracle.

  21. Idiots I say. That stupid Bloom Daddy idiot is the WORST I have heard. I am done with 104.7 and Clear Channels until this is rectified.

    I hope their numbers tank.

  22. This smacks of Obama’s Chicago thuggery! My motto is “Wake up America!” One by one your freedoms are being taken away. Proven by this move to oust Jim Quinn and Rose from their conservative seats of wisdom and truth.

    • Yes, because Clear Channel’s freedom to hire and fire and select different programs on their privately owned broadcast facilities is proof that the government’s removing freedom.

I’m sorry to say this, but some of you are making a very convincing argument for why Clear Channel might have wanted to go in a different direction with their programming.

      • Clearly you have never owned a business in your life. To eliminate your best source of income is suicidal. To disrespect your customers is suicidal. To refuse to address your customers’ questions is also suicidal.

        Three strikes – you’re out!!!

        • It’s not “suicidal” if those customers aren’t bringing in NEW customers and there are fewer of the old customers every quarter. Sorry to inform you.

          • So, in what new direction does Clear Channel want to go with this station? If they’re looking for a younger audience, and talk radio as a whole is declining, why not simply change formats now, rather than eliminate another established show for a lesser-known one of the same genre?

          • But that’s just it, isn’t it? You know no more than anyone else here about the purpose of Clear Channel or anyone else involved in the ending of Quinn’s show. So all people are left to do is speculate, as you’re doing. That no one involved in the decision has made public comments about it was pointed out, and that’s why it’s generating the backlash.

I think Quinn should have posted something to http://wwww.warrom.com/ by now, too, so his listeners would have a better idea of what was going on.

As for a new way to hear him, I don’t see why it would be very difficult for him to set up his own studio and crowdsource funding for the necessary bandwidth to get something started online. And from there he can get back onto the radio stations who are obviously still interested in his show. But I’m not done reading about what has happened yet, so perhaps this is all irrelevant. (I know the person this is in response to doesn’t appear to share our interest in keeping Quinn on radio, but I’m putting all my thoughts into this single reply anyway.)

  23. stop listening to the idiots that fired these two patriots and absolutely avoid their sponsers. ive made a list of their sponsers and avoid them like the plague

  24. I don’t understand, at this time? Why? Quinn has been great for years, Rose … just as abrasive.

Wouldn’t be “Dear Leader” getting ready to push the “red button” so he is the only news source …

… ” the market reached new highs today, the Fed printed a trillion dollars and dumped it into “cow depends” and “fart catchers” … in onther news … Chicago under Raum Emanuel shot 12, 500 people today; equivalent to the best days of Auschwitz. … in California, “free ranch chickens are given a 8 hour manditory “walk” outside of their factory cages instead of their customary 2 hour “free range” … California “chicken ranchers” were forced to drown another 12.5 million chicks to be compliant with …

… OBTW, whose the new OBUMMer “regulator” or DEMoRAT “exec” that is doing “OBUMMer” the fgavor? … Dashle? South Dakota Senator Tom Daschle’s (Former Democratic Senator (defeated 2004)) son? WTF …O? …

… “suggested politics factored into the decision, noting Clear Channel’s hiring of Democratic Governors Association executive director Nathan Daschle, son of former U.S. Sen. Tom Daschle, as executive vice president for political strategy. “It is no secret that the left targets advertisers of conservative talk shows,” … Clear Channel officials would not comment on his assertion … Some affiliates said Clear Channel gave little notice.
“WYSL received email notice of this termination literally 10 minutes before their scheduled Monday morning broadcast,” Radio Livingston Ltd.’s WYSL-1040 in Rochester, N.Y., posted on its website. “We had something different on the air this morning and made frantic phone calls saying you’re feeding the wrong thing,” said Tim Martin, assistant general manager of WFRB-560 in Frostburg, Md …

    • Nathan Daschle is basically a sales manager.

He sells ads to political clients and tries to bring in more PAC money to Clear Channel’s stations.

He’s not responsible for the content or choice of shows on local stations.

      • no he’s not…..he just funnels PAC $ to non-conservative programs and starves the shows like Quinn & Rose. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see how he then claims Q&R must go because they’re not getting enough advertising $$$ coming in!!!

  25. Ellie – there are no FCC localism rules or proceedings.

Even if there were, they wouldn’t apply here. Quinn and Rose were syndicated, and Bloomquist is not local. He’s out of Wheeling – so he’s being “networked” to WPGB.

Replacing Q&R with his show wouldn’t have counted as localism.

I’m sorry you lost a program you enjoyed – but Clear Channel is a business. Not a political organization or a charity. If they cancel a show, it’s not because of the FCC, it’s because of their own math and business strategy.

The only FCC involvement in programming is related to indecency, and there are no indecency cases against WPGB or Quinn and Rose. The FCC has routinely declined to involve themselves in programming matters even when pressured by the type of left wing activist groups many of you want to blame for the changes at 104.7 FM.

  26. We sure miss Quinn and Rose. the morning show with this Bloom guy is terrible. We have switched to learning bible knowledge rather than listen to this Bloom goof!

You have made a big mistake!!!!!

  27. I am most disappointed with the loss of Q&R.I will NOT be listening to WPGB any longer in the Pittsburgh area – will be most anxious to be able to tune them in wherever they return!

  28. I guess it was a business decision, but in doing so, they’ve lost my listening and my business. I think Q&R will be back somewhere else very soon. They’re too good to be out long. That’s the station I’ll be listening to. Goodbye Clear Channel.

  29. I have listened to Quinn even before he had the excellent Rose with him. I will keep checking the warroom site to see where Quinn and Rose will be broadcasting from. Shame on “Clear Channel!”

  30. Listened to Q and R three hours every morning because their presentations were the most researched and factual of any of the radio talk shows. Look forward to their relocating. Tried listening to Bloomdaddy several days and ended up switching to music stations.

  31. 104.7 WPGB Pittsburgh no longer exist in my mornings until 10:00 AM.
    Bloomdaddy? BLEAH!!!!!!!!!
I think I’ll pay the Beck and Rush websites again, get the apps, and bypass 104.7 altogether.

    • I’m with you Kevin! I’ve already switched to listening to music from 6-9am and occasionally (when I can) I listen to FOX on satellite radio. I am hopeful that Quinn and Rose “The War Room” will be on somewhere else soon. I live within radio listening area to Pittsburgh an I NO LONGER will EVER tune in that radio station again. I am also switching radio stations when I identify a Clear Channel Station. I listen to Rush on my personal computer and I have a application to Glen Beck’s BLAZE.

This is just another attempt for the Liberal media to attempt to “quiet” our voices! That is not happening here! I am talking to EVERYONE about this and I VERY SELDOM speak with a person who does not agree with me.

  32. I am very angry about losing Quinn and rose.what happened, it was a part of my daily routine and I truly enjoyed them .I would like to know how I can still be able to listen to them. I am very sad that I am going to miss Rose’s story about the Christmas tree , that was filled with cherity cards that one certain family decorated their tree with. I was so looking forward to hearing it.I just want to let 104.7 know how disappointed I am with them for Quinn and rose being gone. I guess its back to listening to music in the morning. Or I will follow the AM station inn the morning.

  33. I agree with Tracy — I will not listen to 104.7 WPGB, either. This was a disgusting move. I so miss Quinn and Rose. I’ve been listening to them since they came into being–even got XM so I could listen to them no matter where I was. Terminating them was a dumb move but this is what the current administration wants–silence the right.

  34. I was shocked and greatly disappointed to discover that Quinn and Rose are no longer part of Clear Channel and News Talk 104.7! I love those two and want them back!

  35. Miss the 6 to 9 discussions my favorite. Hate to try finding a replacement.I know it will be nigh on impossible. Sure won’t be bloomquist

  36. At least we still have Mark Levin (The Mark Levin Show). Free website and free app. If you’re not listening to him, you don’t know what you’re missing!!!

  37. From the Quick Start Guide to the Quinn and Rose Show:

    13. To a Conservative adversity is indistinguishable from opportunity.

Hurry back, Quinn and Rose! We miss you something awful!

WPGB and Clear Channel made a huge mistake, unless this is another attempt to silence conservatives and the TRUTH. We will NOT be silenced!

  38. As a radio station in general, WPGB News Talk 104.7 isn’t all there.
Starting at about 11PM the station often permits 2 tracks to run over one another for five to 10 minutes at a time. This happens during the day,as well. And there’s even “dead air” which can last upwards of 20 minutes!!
The station seems to be on autopilot much of the time after 6 PM.
Whatever happened re: Quinn @ Rose, the station would have done well to
prepare its listeners about a move that they must have anticipated would alienate many of them. The substitution of “Bloomdaddy” suggests management has a “tin ear” for their listener’s preferences.
On the other hand, to be honest, after 8 years of loyal listening I would expect a bit more out of Quinn and Rose than the offhand “We love ya, you’re great, and we’ll be back somewhere when we can.”
I have no doubt that they will, as they trancend Becks giggling and see-saw
emotions, Rush’s egotism and football babble, and Hannity’s futile argumentation with his liberal guests. Wherever they return I’ll be there to listen.

  39. I Would like to ask Mr. Wilcox a question. If at this time taking Quinn & Rose off was such a wise business decision, Then how is 104.7 treating the problems of dead air, commercials running over other commercials and shows being treated? You see I have listened to 104.7 at many times of day and I have never heard a radio station with as many of these problems except really bad stations with that many problems. As far as I know these problems are looked at by other radio stations equates into dollars. So if Clear Channel is so interested in its future operating as a top quality operation I would think these problems would be right on top of their list. Something tells me that they are not as interested in correcting these things as they were getting Quinn & Rose off the air.

    • Amen, Brother Bob! Mr Wilcox is in that position to explain why CC took Q&R off the air. Not a very good job, did he? CC is going to find out the hard way that it’s not a top quality operation, for the very reasons you mentioned.

  40. Bob – your point is well taken. It’s actually not uncommon for mostly automated stations – consider that most of WPGB’s lineup is entirely delivered by satellite. These stations are often not closely monitored or staffed. I’ve heard many Clear Channel and other group owned stations have these problems, especially on nights and weekends when the building may not be staffed.

While I think it’s poor quality, it has very little to do with the format and everything to do with the fact that staff isn’t on top of it – and with regular budget cuts at clusters across the country, it’s very little surprise that the emphasis is on saving money rather than program quality. I never claimed that CC was necessarily the best company or the most quality oriented – merely that ideology has very little to do with the disappearance of Quinn and Rose – and I think your observation would support the idea that cost cutting is more important than programming.

  41. Hopefully Quin and Rose will find another station. I got an XM radio so I could record their show as I was either working or sleeping during their broadcast hours and I could listen later. I tried Bloomdaddy . I’ll be Listening to Cam & Co.,NRA News That I’ve recorded the previous night until Glen Beck comes on. Good move Clear Channel!

  42. The responses from Mr. Wilcox make sense from a business perspective; and could explain a lot of what happened. Furthermore, there might have been some sort of settlement with Q&R that mandated their silence about what happened….and may have limited their options in finding new venues. We will never know the details.
I hope there is enough fire, passion, and dedication to finding and publishing the truth remaining–that they get back on the air soon. If they act soon, their loyal listeners will go where they go–even if we have to pay for a subscription. If they don’t, I wish them both a healthy and happy retirement.

  43. I too am shocked about Quinn & Rose getting fired, I didn’t know what was going on till now. I won’t be listening anymore either! Do you remember how Quinn used to goad the liberals by saying “you can’t get rid of me!” I think that really irked the big boys and also he said he had info from inside the beltway, maybe our government really did have someone listening, because Quinn didn’t just talk without proof of what he was saying. I’m going to check to see if the War Room is still active.

    • It is, but it hasn’t been updated since Nov 21st. Considering what they have been through, it would be nice if they updated their homepage every once in a while…

  44. to say I miss Quinn & rose is an understatement. while dismayed I was not surprised. I worked in radio for 6 years and radio is radio. I also know talent when I hear it. Quinn especially is one of the best. like rush Limbaugh he has the ability to be serious and make you laugh at the same time. please return somewhere and keep us updated at warrom.com. I miss the B S detector.

  45. I have been listening to Jim and Rose since Quinn was doing the talk show and spinning records in the 90s. I can’t believe 104.7 in Pittsburgh doesn’t get what a valuable resource they are. They were coming out every year with more and more market share. This did seem a bit shady to me.

  46. They made 104.7 known as the steel buckle of the rust belt across the country. Without Jim Quinn your just an empty building. I have already gone else were.

  47. I understand that they were willing to renew Quinn, but he insisted on bringing Rose along. She is verbally incontinent, unable to focus, and adds nothing to the program.

    • Mikey,
Why would Hannity have Rose on if that was right?
Don’t know where you got your information from but it’s incorrect. There was NO contract negotiations they were out of the blue FIRED. The affiliate stations have confirmed that even though I’ve seen them in person.
Without Quinn and Rose WPGB is a travesty and I won’t support it. I refuse to go there unless they bring them back. And I have called and will continue calling sponsors to let them know!!!

    • I love Jim, but absolutely cannot stand Rose – been listening for 12 years or so, but I’ve been flipping the station when she comes on as of late.

  48. Hard to believe that Bloomdaddy is the best they could come up with. How many hours of discussion of his cell phone bill can anyone take ???!!!!!

  49. It’s been two weeks of checking every morning to see where Quinn and Rose will end up. At first, I thought there was an unexpected problem and they had to fill in with Bloomdaddy. When I realized that 104.7 would not carry my favorite radio program, it was a real kick in the teeth.

I have five radios in the house and the radios in the cars tuned to 104.7, but now they are unused on the weekday mornings. Nothing against Bloomdaddy, but I listened for a little bit and found nothing of interest. In fact, I don’t understand why anyone would think that Quinn and Rose listeners would have any interest in Bloomdaddy.

I still listen to Glen Meakem, Rush and occasionally to Beck, but I really miss my 2 or 3 morning hours with Q & R.

Oh well, I’ll catch up with them whenever and wherever they get back on the air.

  50. Q&R:

I supported you and listened to your show every morning. Today is December 2nd and I just looked at your website. The latest message on it was dated “November 21st.” We need to hear from you and soon, considering your circumstances. Or you will fade almost as fast as bloodaddy’s pool of sponsorships.

  51. This is crazy. They had the best conservative talk show on the air.
I won’t listen to that station until they fix this.

  52. What total and utter B.S!!!!! I live in Houston (originally from NJ) and listened to them on XM then on iheart radio. Loved this show and the two personalities that brought this show to life. They had and reported news items before the mainstream media (even sometimes FOX news)or other conservative talk show radio hosts did. I hope they are picked up quickly by some other news/media outlet. I will miss you both and the light hearted bantering between you and the hard hitting news you reported on. Thank you for the 7 years you did give us from there up in Pittsburgh.

  53. I’m sorry to hear about Quinn and Rose. A long time listener to Q&R show and I will only listen to Rush and turn the radio to another channel when his radio show is over. O who is B-oo-daddy? Bye to CC.

  54. I guess I’m not listening to 104.7 any more. Back to the DVE morning show. I’m really going to miss listening to Quinn & Rose on my drive in to work.

  55. Long time listner…will also listen to RUSH and Pirate basball when baseball comes back around..then turn it off…loved listening to Quin and Rose in morning atleast they were local and had a conserative view (right) that I enjoyed..oh well ..i guess Capitalism prevails even to the Quin and Rose Show!!..Good Luck!

  56. How do you figure Blumedaddy is better than QUinn and Rose? All he does is talk non-stop and give his opinion. No information, at least no usable information, is given on the show….just his opinion and non-stop talk. I guess I’ll be spending my mornings on 93.7 FM “The Fan”. It’s better than Blumedaddy.

  57. I am extremely disappointed with the departure of the Quinn and Rose Show in the morning! They started my day when I was working in Pittsburgh. After retirement, I continued to listen to their show in Florida. Now I ONLY turn 104.7 am on when Glen Beck’s show begins. This station has made a poor choice. Perhaps management needs to revisit their decision to change programing.

  58. I add my displeasure to management’s terrible decision. I just keep it on 1170 AM and listen when Beck is on at 9am. No disrespect to BD but to listen to him till 10am is a no-go for me.

My only hope is that I get WYSL in Steubenville, OH.

  59. Bring Quinn & Rose back! They are a great way to start the day! Just because they don’t fall in line with the rest of lamestream media is no reason to take them off!

  60. Can’t believe Quinn and rose are no longer on. I listened to them every morning. Won’t tune in to wpgb until later in the day

  61. Does anyone have 104.7 FM and Clear Channel’s programming GM’s/exec’s emails? If so please post here so we can all write letters to them.

  62. Clear Channel station WHJJ in Providence. RI recently fired a popular conservative tea party morning drive host Helen Glover. Seems like Clear Channel is cleaning house irregardless of ratings.

  63. The announcer on WPGB made a mistake yesterday and said “Your station for Quinn and Rose”. I was hoping it was not a mistake but I guess it was. Christmas morning will not be the same without their show, it is timeless.

  64. Bring Quinn & Rose back! I only listen too them & Hannity!!! If you want too fire someone FIRE Obama & Harry Reed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  65. this was pure 110% political for them to be canned 10 minutes before the show….i have listened to them for so many years i can,t remember, Jim used to come into a gas station i worked at to get his kerosene so during the winter i used to get to talk to him on a personal level….i,ll tell ya this there were times i thought they got to radical just times here and there but i was a loyal fan of them and i still have my war room signed poster in my office right on the wall in front of me…..shame on that staton for canning them but its going to come back and bite them right in the arse because this bloomdaddy or bloom fatty is never going to cut it he,ll never fill their shoes, there is someone hiding in the woodpile somewhere and they will be flushed out, well i need to stop now it just starts really upsetting me…..yes we have glenn, rush, shawn, and savage but it will never be the same and i,ll find another way to tune into them so i need not go back to that station….i,d love to see how honest they are and tell us already how many veiwers they have lost……..i hope that place is stocked up with toilet paper…..this was one of the biggest radio blunders of the past 10 years……i only hope when it comes around to bite them in the rear end it bites them hard…….smile now libs and take a picture of it cause you won,t have it long…..by the way i am a life long democrat of the days when being a democrat meant something not like today……i loved Q&R i listened to them every day.

    Tom

  66. Just checking in to see if Q&R announced there comeback. I’ll wait till they return. In the mean time I’ve sworn off ALL Clear Channel Stations.

  67. WPGB should do whatever it takes to get Quinn and Rose back on the air! I no longer listen to your station! I flip to WPBG only in the hopes the station has wised up and and renewed the contract. The minute I hear It is not Quinn’s voice, I turn it off. You need to fix this! Bring back Quinn and Rose!!

  68. I think it sucks big time. I’ve been a Quinn fan since KQV in Pittsburgh. I thought WPGH was up to the task, but I think outside influence had something to do with this. I’ve been retired for almost a year, and it was great listening to the whole program, which I was never able to do while working. Story of my life…LOL. Hurry back guys. This is torture.

  69. I will not listen to 104.7 until they bring back Quinn and Rose. I prefer listening to them over Rush and Hannity.

  70. I can’t believe that WPGB let Quinn and Rose go. They are the best conservative talk show hosts in America. We in the Pittsburgh area have known this for many years. They not only inform, but do it with a wonderful sense of humor – a great combination. No one can replace them. We will not be listening to this station any longer nor will we support the advertisers of the new show.

  71. I hope they are signed by someone quickly because I have been searching the airwaves hoping someone has picked up their show.

  72. I have read all the comments and I haven’t read any claiming Bloomdaddy has more listening appeal than Quinn and Rose. Mr. Wilcox has implied that Q&R were losing audience and therefore released (fired). I understand that profits are a necessity for the success of any real business. However, if Bloomdaddy has fewer supporters locally than Q&R does that mean the locals who support him are just being silent. If not and Bloomdaddy has fewer listeners than even Q&R then their will be even fewer revenues. If Q&R’s replacement brings in fewer listeners, fewer advertisers and less revenues then logically one would conclude that the person(s) who made the decision to replace Q&R should be the one(s) who are looking for a new job. Where am I wrong Mr. Wilcox? Or, are you no longer there? Hello, Mr. W, hello, hello.

  73. For the record, I never claimed more people would listen to Bloomdaddy. I claimed he was more general interest and cheaper – which, if you follow Clear Channel, is in line with the fact that they’re in massive debt and cutting costs wherever possible.

Keep in mind, you’re looking at this from a direct standpoint – fans to Q&R = audience for Clear Channel. But CC isn’t just looking at the fact that Q&R obviously have fans – they’re looking at the cost to continue to pay them for the share of the Pittsburgh audience.

Let’s say WPGB’s top line is a 3.6 – that’s the best CC thinks that station will get in the market (this is just an example.)

CC is looking at the long term. If they re-up Q&R’s contract at X rate and the audience goes south – which, projections for most talk radio suggest – then they’re paying at a locked in rate for a long time regardless of the revenue. Bloomdaddy is a simulcast from Wheeling. They don’t have to pay 2 additional salaries. They just give him a small bonus for it.

This means for however long they stick with talk on WPGB they’ve saved 2 salaries and not committed themselves to a program that may (or to be fair, may not) lose audience on pace with the format as a whole.

This is business math – it doesn’t follow some people’s definition of logic or common sense.. but CC overpaid by millions and has a lot of debt to deal with.

  74. I don’t believe it’s about the money, they were just telling the truth and probably some heat was put on the owners of this station. All of the conservative talk show hosts warned us this was going to happen. Who’s next?

  75. One of the best radio shows on. Bring Quinn back. I don’t care so much for Rose. Quinn is head and shoulders above Beck, Hannity and Rush. Get rid of one of them or all of them.

  76. Bloom Daddy is terrible , I have unsuccessfully tried to listen to him , but can’t take it anymore , . I WILL NOT be listening to 104.7 anymore .
I counted on Quinn and Rose to keep me updated on my ride to work in the morning . I have switched channels… 104.7 is done in my book .

Would love to hear Quinn and Rose will be put on somewhere else, so I can hook up with them again…

    Sincerely ,

    Deborah Beltz

  77. BS, Clear Channel communications says it is nothing more than not reaching an agreement? Care to explain then why your NEW VICE PRESIDENT IS TOM DASCHLE’S SON, NATHAN? Yep, you got it, Nathan Daschle (new VP of Clear Channel Communications) is the FORMER Senator Tom Daschle’s son..whom was one of the people PUSHING the TALK RADIO AND FAIRNESS DOCTRINE!!!
If is IS not political, PLEASE explain it! ‘Your actions speak so loud, I can’t hear a word you say’

    • For what feels like the 100th time.. Daschle is NOT “VICE PRESIDENT” of Clear Channel.
He is “Vice President for Political Strategy” – the role is to attract AD DOLLARS across all platforms.
NOT make individual PROGRAMMING decisions because he is NOT in the PROGRAMMING department.
Scott, you are the one who keeps speaking “BS.”
Being unhappy with the change at WPGB does NOT entitle you to lie about CC or Daschle. You aren’t entitled to lie about the man just because he’s a Democrat.

      • gee Alan, you’re so resolute in what you profess – what do you know that none of us do? Please enlighten us with the necessary proof that will authenticate daschle did NOT play a role in Jim and Rose’s departure. many thanks. Arlene

        • Arlene:

So let me get this straight – you make an accusation without proof then turn around and tell me it’s my burden of proof to prove you wrong?

No. You accused that. My “proof” is simply this – Nathan Daschle is NOT in programming. He has nothing to do with programming. He has no decision making power as regards WPGB. He is basically an advanced sales manager that sells clients on the value of advertising on CC Radio and Digital in the political sector – a bipartisan thing, because all money is green, and THAT is what Clear Channel wants from Nathan Daschle. He is not a program director, operations manager, or anyone who’d sign off either way on Quinn and Rose.

For you to take this man, simply because he’s a Democrat, and accuse him of conspiracy isn’t fair or right. If you as a conservative believe in facts, you need to face the fact that other than ONE radio show leaving ONE station – you don’t have evidence to convict Nathan Daschle.

I leave you with this. If – IF Daschle keeps conservative programming off the air, why are 2 MAJOR MARKET CC stations going ALL CONSERVATIVE? SF and LA – hardly “red states” – and they’re switching to “The Patriot” and ABANDONING liberal talk. Now – explain how that fits into your allegations. Q&R’s cancellation was about M O N E Y. Nothing more, nothing less.

  78. I hate they are no longer on in the mornings! I have stopped listening as it has lost all interest to me. I didn’t miss a morning before this happened. What in the world is station management thinking?!? I will keep an eye out and hopefully be able to find another station to follow.

  79. I will not listen to 104.7 at any time of day with Quinn and Rose gone. Should have known a Daschle or someone from Washington was involved.

  80. Bluedaddy is a joke. I tried listening a couple of times and had to turn him off. Shame on Clearchannel for getting rid of Quinn. One day soon, there will be no place to go to get the real news about our communist-in-chief and his destruction of our way of life, and that day is fast approaching.
