Crockett Keller of Keller’s Riverside Store teaches classes designed to prepare students for getting a concealed handgun license, and he advertised his service on local KHLB-FM Mason TX. However, in the ad, he suggested that if you voted for a “socialist liberal” supporter of the “campaigner in chief,” or a Muslim, you need not seek his services.

The ad ran six days on the station, a Class C2 on 102.5 MHz licensed to Tom, Rick and Harley Broadcasting LLC. Mason is in unrated territory in central Texas northwest of San Antonio.

According to a report at kvue.com, the ad tells listeners that if they enroll they will learn all they need to know to get the C.H.L. Then it goes on to say, “If you are a socialist liberal and or voted for the current campaigner in chief, please do not take this class. You have already proven that you cannot make a knowledgeable and prudent decision as under the law.” And then, “If you are a non-Christian Arab or Muslim, I will not teach you the class with no shame; I am Crockett Keller, thank you and God bless America.”

The broadcast schedule for the ad is over, but it is be picking up new life online.

Keller’s stance proved controversial in the immediate neighborhood – lots of supporters, others who were offended, few in the middle.

If the ad has presented Keller with a vulnerability, it is with an agency of his own state, which may take him to task for discriminatory behavior. According to the report, the following statement came from the agency which licenses Keller to teach his class in the first place:

“The Texas Department of Public Safety certifies individuals to teach coursework and provide training required to be taken by individuals seeking to qualify for a Texas concealed handgun license. Certified instructors are required to comply with all applicable state and federal statutes. Conduct by an instructor that denied service to individuals on the basis of race, ethnicity or religion would place that instructor’s certification by the Department at risk of suspension or revocation. The Department became aware of the statements in question yesterday and has begun an investigation into the matter. The Department will take appropriate administrative action based on the findings from the investigation.”
