Radio auto ads up for fewer than you'd think

With all of the automotive ad spend we’ve been hearing and seeing lately, Media Monitors decided to take a snapshot of YOY data for radio, comparing the weeks of 6/08-6/14 2010 and 6/09-6/15 2009. As the chart shows, the number of ads is up significantly overall – and dramatically so for GM, Toyota and Subaru, but is actually down for many as well—including Chrysler, BMW, Nissan, Honda, Volvo, Volkswagen, Daimler AG (Mercedes), Kia, Land Rover and Mitsubishi.

Many of the latest GM ads are live reads, speaking to the benefits of plant upgrades, jobs being returned and the economic benefits GM factory communities are receiving from it. See numbers here.
