Tribune Broadcasting is getting back into syndicated television next year with “The Bill Cunningham Show.” He’s a veteran radio host in Cincinnati, but now he’s going to add the daytime TV talker to be shot in Chicago.
Cunningham admitted to RBR-TVBR that he was a bit nervous about making the video move until he got the first pilot under his belt.
Sean Compton, Tribune Broadcasting president of programming, told RBR-TVBR Executive Editor that the first pilot convinced him that he’d made the right decision.
Those four pilots aired, with little promotion, on Tribune stations in seven markets. Compton said he was pleased with the audience response. Now the company is working on a full-fledged roll-out of the daytime syndicated show in September 2011.
