Radio tower comes crashing down (video)

When Mark Heller’s Metro North Communications bought WMBE-AM Chilton, WI, it already had FCC approval to move to New Holstein. But the station came with an old tower that had some structural problems. So something had to be done.

A new tower is being built several miles away, but Heller had to remove the old one. The best way to do that? Break the guy wires and let it fall.

WLUK-TV (Fox) Green Bay showed up with a camera crew to watch the action. The video is below.

Heller plans to have the station back on the air on 1530 kHz in April, not only with a new tower, but with new call letters as well – WLWB.
