Rapper, Radio One bury the hatchet in Houston

Trae the Truth said that Radio One and its Houston TX FM station 97.9 The Box KBXX was damaging his career by refusing to play his music, and went so far as to file a lawsuit over the matter. But Radio One responded in kind and according to a report from a local television station, the legal battle has been called off.

Fox Television O&O Channel 20 KTHX said that there was no formal settlement. The allegedly feuding parties simply decided not to pursue the matter through the courts.

RBR-TVBR observation: There is so much music for a radio station to NOT play that it’s hard to see how anybody could make a lack of airplay lawsuit stick. There are a whole lot of people who aren’t getting airplay, and that’s pretty much the way it has to be on simple supply and demand grounds. There are plenty of musicians, but only so many minutes in a broadcast day.
