Spring Ahead: Updates today, new Nielsens next week!
– Clark Smidt, Broadcast Connector
The snow has given the Boston part of the Nor’east a temporary break! Of course, trains and a certain St. Patty’s Day parade need melt down in a good way and I’ve sent snow drift photos to the lucky in 70 degrees or better. We’re reviewing the December/Holiday/January 6+ Nielsen PPM trends in anticipation of the fresh February batch, coming to your screen March 16. The Good: We get the information early and often. The Bad: Many results come from repeat responders. The Ugly: The Nielsen subscription club leaves us without a complete story. Once we get into diary metros 55+ the crowd thins and we can get as few at one company showing a simple base number in Top 100 markets, let alone the other 172. Solution: A number for every licensed station in every surveyed market gives proper comparison, promotes valuable radio ROI and stimulates more necessary business for all. Here’s the suitable for printing RBR Ratings Scorecard: Markets #21 Baltimore to #33 Kansas City.
