CBS Radio’s WWJ-AM Detroit fired veteran reporter Karen Dinkins this week because she wore a t-shirt supporting Barack Obama while covering a local rally for the Democratic presidential candidate. A statement by the station quoted in the Detroit News says “our credibility with our listeners rests on the independence of our newsroom staff. WWJ does not favor any candidate, party or issue.”
