Rockefeller goes to bat for online video


John RockefellerThe video distribution business has three mature platforms – broadcast, cable and satellite. Now Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) has introduced legislation that will pave the way for internet distributors in much the same way earlier legislation paved the way for satellite.

He’s calling his bill the Consumer Choice in Online Video Act. It’s goal is to give consumers more choice and lower prices by encouraging competition to existing platforms by internet-based distributors.
