RTDNA names Region 8 Director

MorenoThe Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) announced the appointment of Christy Moreno to its board of directors, representing Region 8, which includes Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina and West Virginia.


Moreno is news director at WBIR-TV in Knoxville. Her first job in broadcast news was in Wichita Falls, Texas at the CBS affiliate, KAUZ. She moved to Houston in 1997 and worked as an associate producer at the NBC affiliate KPRC. After a year, she moved to the FOX affiliate KRIV and stayed there for nine years as a producer and executive producer. In 2007 she became the assistant news director at the CBS affiliate in San Antonio, KENS, before moving to Tennessee in 2012.

WBIR won Region 8’s Edward R. Murrow Award for Overall Excellence in 2013, along with awards for continuing coverage and the station’s website. The Region 8 seat on the board had been overseen by Region 9 Director Randy Bell, who will continue to represent Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi.
