Rupert Murdoch talked to Fox Business Network’s Neil Cavuto 2/2 after the launch of his new iPad newspaper, “The Daily.” The question came up, “Would you consider hiring Keith Olbermann, which recently was canned from MSNBC?
“No,” he said. “We fired him once, we don’t believe in firing people twice.” He also reinforced his opinion that Olbermann had been a “nut” when he worked at Fox Sports in the late 1990s.
The conversation also touched on the Comcast-NBC merger, President Obama (Murdoch was skeptical that he has really “moved to the middle”), and his new online iPad paper. Murdoch, impressed with Steve Jobs’ numerous revolutions, said that the iPad would lead to “the end of the laptop.”
