SAG awards back on TNT and TBS next January

Mark your calendars (if you even have a 2013 calendar at this point) – the 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be simulcast again on TNT and TBS on Sunday, January 27th.

The date was announced by SAG Awards Committee Chair JoBeth Williams, with the awards ceremony again set for the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center.  The 2013 SAG Awards ceremony will honor the outstanding performances of calendar year 2012. The broadcast will air for the 16th consecutive year on TNT and the 8th on sister channel TBS.

The 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremonies, awarding The Actor statuettes for the outstanding performances of 2011, were simulcast live on TNT and TBS last month (1/29). The simulcast was up 3% this year, with a total audience of more than 5.2 million viewers.

The 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be produced by Jeff Margolis Productions in association with Screen Actors Guild Awards, LLC.

RBR-TVBR observation: Will they even be called the SAG Awards then? The union should be getting a new name once it merges with AFTRA. Somehow, we doubt that they’ll go for our name choice: Federation of Artists in Radio, Television and Screen.
