Alberto J. Salazar has been named Director of Sales for the Central and Latin American (CALA) region at GatesAir.

A broadcast industry veteran who has held key sales roles with Harmonic and Thomson Video Networks, Salazar will drive regional strategies and initiatives across a broad territory from Mexico to Argentina, and throughout the Caribbean islands.

He reports directly to Joe Mack, GatesAir’s Americas VP of Sales.

Salazar views the “CALA” region as rich with opportunities and cites Mexico as an interesting example, noting the large number of new government-issued TV and radio station licenses nationwide.

“My mission is to maximize the efforts of our sales team and strategic channel partners and distributors,” said Salazar. “Ultimately, our goal is to help our customers build and upgrade TV and radio infrastructure with the highest operational efficiency and performance, and the lowest total cost of ownership.”

Prior to joining GatesAir, Salazar served as regional sales director for Thomson Video Networks. Key customers included Televisa, Sky Mexico, CLARO, Izzi, Totalplay and MVS Comunicaciones.

Before that, Salazar was Director of Sales/Latin America and Caribbean for ATEME, establishing its presence in the Americas.

In addition, Salazar led the go-to-market activities for Harmonic as Director of Sales for Latin America and the Caribbean.

“The CALA region is among the most diverse worldwide when it comes to digital TV and radio standards adoption,” said GatesAir CEO Bruce Swail. “With so many countries in different stages of transition, the time is right to welcome an innovative and experienced sales leader with proven results.”
