With Rick Santorum leading in Michigan’s GOP primary in some polls, the former U.S. senator from Pennsylvania is readying his in-state ad campaign. MIRS, the Michigan Information & Research Service, wrote 2/14 about a TV ad it says Santorum is set to run in Michigan–which holds its Republican primary 2/28.

The ad. “The Very, Very Best Chance,” shows Santorum campaigning and doing things with his family. As a rousing, upbeat tune plays, the narrator asks, “Who has the best chance to beat Obama? Rick Santorum.”

It then goes on to call him “a full spectrum conservative,” saying he is “rock solid on values issues” and “a favorite of the tea party for fighting corruption and taxpayer abuse.”

The ad also touts Santorum’s manufacturing plan, which he says will “make America an economic superpower again,” before going on again to say he’s “a trusted conservative.”

While the ad doesn’t mention Michigan or his chief rival, Mitt Romney, by name, it is intended to paint Santorum as a more true-blue conservative than the Romney. And while Romney – who was born in Michigan – is considered by some to have the best chance among the Republican candidates of beating Barack Obama this fall, Santorum argues his credentials make him the stronger nominee.
