The Save KPLU campaign is half-way toward its goal of raising $7 million.
The group has now attained status as a non-profit organization so donations are tax- deductible and eligible for employer matching programs.
The group is trying to match an offer for the station that Pacific Lutheran University was going to get from the University of Washington for the Seattle station. One million dollars in underwriting is also part of the transaction announced in January.
If successful, the U.W. has said it will step aside and allow Friends of KPLU to buy the station.
The group has raised $3,525,746 as of April 5.
