A longtime corporate sales executive at Sinclair Broadcast Group has just received a promotion.

Dave Schwartz, who took a top-level role as Corporate Director of Sales for the broadcast media company in April 2007 and rose to VP of Sales/Group Manager in June 2010, is now VP of Sales Operations — a newly created role in the Maryland headquarters for the company that’s quickly nearing regulatory approval of its merger with Tribune Media.

Reporting to Chief Revenue Officer Rob Weisbord, Schwartz will be responsible for oversight of new business revenue, lead generation, direct response/longform sales, customer analytics, and sales channel management.

Weisbord said of Schwartz, “Dave has considerable broadcast and sales experience that will help us immensely as we expand our sales channels beyond the local marketplace. Dave will also play a key role in helping the stations use our customer relationship management software and analytic tools to generate leads, develop new business and maximize revenue.”

Schwartz expressed excitement with the new role, “especially as our industry evolves into a multi-platform content and solutions business.” He continued, “We have tremendous opportunities ahead of us with new technologies and multiple sales channels. I am honored to be part of such a forward-thinking and talented company.”

Before joining the top brass in the Baltimore suburbs, Schwartz spent 3 years as GM of WSMH-TV in Flint, Mich., a Sinclair property.

He joined Sinclair in 2004 after a two-year stint as VP/Director of Sales for Transit Television Network.

From 1996 to 2001, he served as VP/Director of Sales for WRBW-TV in Orlando, and before that held various positions at national rep firm Petry and at Seltel, where he spent a decade as SVP/Director of Sales.
