Schurz Communications has filed FCC paperwork, a key step on the road to building an extremely rare and completely legal four-station television cluster featuring four – count ‘em – four network affiliates in the South Bend IN DMA. It works because the three it’s buying are low power. Schurz will pay $22M cash for the triple-headed set, which it will run in conjunction with its own WSBT-TV CBS. Coming from seller Weigel Broadcasting are ABC WBND-LP, CW WCWW-LP and MNT WMYS-LP. Weigel has also promised to conduct good faith negotiations for broadcast rights for NBA’s Chicago Bulls and MLB’s Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox.
